Possibly Boots, or Holland and Barrat?

That's where I would try anyway..

Should be able to get it from any decent sized pharmacy. That's where I got my last box from, or ask smaller pharmacy to order you one if that's more convenient.

Canyou just use lemon juice? That is what I use to descale my kettle... I just wack some in with water and boil as usual and it works a treat... No more dodgy chemicals for me!

you can also use white vinegar or Boots/Mothercare sell descaler sachets which contain lactic acid (I think) rather than citric acid

This may seem strange, but if you have an asian food shop near you, try there as they sell packets of citric acid in the spices section. I think its used as an ingredient in some asian dishes.

I just use any descaler. The one I use the most is the Oust one for kettles/irons/steamers etc. Seems to do the job just fine and I can get it from Tesco.

Lemons- i use pre-squeezed lemOn juice for both kettle and steriliser.

You can get sachets at boots for descaling it. Really does make machine last longer.

I found citric acid hard to find and have heard of people getting strange looks when requesting it as its used by drug addicts in IV prep!

I don't like useing the sachets for descaling, not keen on using any chemical's.

But lemon juice works really well, just the cheepest concetrated stuff from the suppermarket does the trick.

DH says brewer suppliers sell it (bound to be some online if you google)

You can get it from chemists - but they do not have it on display anymore. You have to ask for it and then they usually ask you what it is for.I had to buy a lot once for a childrens group that were making bath bombs and it was quite difficult. apparently it can be used in real bomb making !

Wilkinsons - it'll be with the wine making stuff.

Citric acid is in lemon juice, and lemon juice does not leave a taste in the steriliser. Vinegar also works, but leaves a taste.

Citric acid is not a dodgy chemical. It's a naturally occuring preservative.

It's cheaper than buying a specific descaler. I always get mine from a local independent chemist.

It's makes a great fizzing effect in my kettle.

Boots do a citric acid one, its in sachets and is in liquid form (its where they display the sterilizers)I also live in a hard water area and it works a treat!
